 Our Parent's Groups

This is your opportunity to take part in fun activities like arts and crafts, relaxation and interesting discussions as well as being part of the Nursery's decision making process.  These meetings which are held in the People's Place and are led by the key workers. The Nursery Head attends regularly to introduce proposed developments to service, hear your feedback and just to have a chat.  Yours key worker will give you details of days and times from meetings or look out for information on the Parents Notice Board in the cloakroom.

Parent's Development

Your child is at nursery to grow and develop in a fun environment but did you realise you can do the same? At the Jeely every parent has the opportunity to have their very own Development Plan which is put together by you and your key worker. Your worker will help you decide what skills you want to develop and the activities that are available.

Don't worry, we know it can sound scary but it could be something as simple as building your confidence by attending a Parent's Group or learning to make play dough for your child. You will get more information from your key worker.

Parenting Classes/Triple P

Our parenting courses are a fun but helpful way for parents to look together at some of the challenges of the job and give each other support. Classes are led by Jeely staff or other suitably qualified people.

The Positive Parenting Programme (Triple P) is offered at the Jeely and aims to increase parental competence in managing common behavioural problems by teaching parents strategies to suit the needs of their individual child.

Triple P group sessions last 2 hours over a 4 week period and consist of brief presentations, video clips and a handbook which each parent is given to support them in using the strategies in the home environment. Following week 4, individual support is given either by telephone or a one to one meeting that can be arranged. The closing session recognises the parent's achievements and certificates are presented to parents. Ongoing peer support is offered to all attendees.

Triple P can also be offered to any parent on an individual basis. Parenting issues can be discussed one to one and parents supported to devise strategies and enjoy sharing in their child's development.
